The Renton Rebels were founded in 1993 by Benny Benavides as a one-team program built on advanced fundamentals and giving local athletes opportunities to compete at high levels—locally, regionally, and nationally. Under the guidance of Benny and Ken Chick, that original team saw great success from 1993–1999, highlighted by winning the 14U CABA World Series in Miamisburg, Ohio (1995). The program continued into the early 2000s before taking a pause.
In 2015, the Rebels were revived by Benny’s son and former player, Brandon Benavides, along with Kenny Chick and Daren Balmores, with a new 13U team that continued into 14U the following season.
In 2018, the program was brought back with a 9U team (coached by Brandon Benavides and Josh Robinson) and an 11U team (coached by Josh Lambarena). Both teams enjoyed eight years of growth and competition, completing their run in the summer of 2025.
Today, the Rebels’ commitment to player development continues with our 11U team, coached by Chris Dubois, and our 13U team, coached by Grant Benavides. These teams represent the next generation of Rebels baseball and will carry the program forward with the same values and dedication that have defined it since 1993.
